CBS and NBC are among big winners of the Radio-Television News Directors Association’s Edward R. Murrow Awards for excellence in news broadcasting. The Eye network takes home eight awards, including three for its radio news division; the Peacock wins six.
ABC Radio won four, including overall excellence in radio.
Regional Radio Timisoara in Romania won the first Murrow for a former Eastern Bloc country, for feature reporting.
Overall excellence awards for stations included WTMJ(AM) in Milwaukee for large-market radio and KFDI(FM)/KFTI(AM) in Wichita, Kan., for small-market radio.
An awards dinner will be held at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in New York on October 13.
