John DeBella talks with Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter at the 13th annual John DeBella Turkey Drop.
Before Thanksgiving recedes over the rearview mirror horizon, a couple of salutes to radio good guys.
In Philadelphia, Greater Media’s WMGK(FM)’s John DeBella and his 13th annual “John DeBella Turkey Drop” gathered a record 10,685 turkeys. DeBella and his team broadcast live from downtown’s Love Park for the event while his radio henchman also collected birds at other parts of the city. Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter dropped by for encouragement and Parx Casino donated $10,000 worth of turkeys. The birds were and are destined for deserving holiday stomachs.
On the other side of the continent, radio imaging service Benztown helped out with the E.J. Jackson Turkey Giveaway in Los Angeles. This was the 32nd annual iteration produced by the limousine service magnate’s foundation.
