ABC Radio Makes Deal With Mediaguide; Will Offer Monitoring to Stations

Yet another announcement in the red-hot station monitoring and verification game…
ABC Radio Networks and Mediaguide announced a marketing agreement; the network becomes the national sales agent to U.S. radio stations for Mediaguide's StationMonitor music monitoring and reporting services.
ABC and Mediaguide hope PDs and music directors will want to use their Web-based system for monitoring music airplay and customizing to track by stations, markets and formats.
The monitoring technology uses a content "fingerprinting" approach and relies on a network of computers to monitor 2,500 radio and TV stations via equipment in unmanned racks around the country. The firm is based in Berwyn, Pa.
