ABC Radio, Spanish Broadcasting System Make Syndication Deal

ABC Radio Networks and Spanish Broadcasting System confirmed a joint relationship to nationally syndicate three popular Hispanic radio programs in America. The five-year deal enables ABC Radio Networks to begin broadcasting to its radio stations KLAX(FM)’s Renan “El Cucuy” Almendarez Coello, WSKQ(FM)’s “El Vacilon de la Manana” with Luis Jimenez and Moonshadow and WXDJ(FM)’s “El Vacilon de la Manana” with Enrique Santos and Joe Ferrero.
The agreement gives one radio network exclusive rights to syndicate the three regional shows, which ABC Radio Networks’ vice president of multicultural sales says is unprecedented. “With this agreement, (our company) can now present marketers with three powerful options to effectively reach the diverse Hispanic consumer audiences. This has not been done before,” he said.
Additionally, ABC will have the exclusive rights to sell on-air advertising inventory on Spanish Broadcasting System shows on the aforementioned stations, in addition to WLEY(FM) in Chicago and KRZZ(FM) in San Francisco. The company also hopes to enhance its multicultural presence in concentrated Hispanic communities throughout the country.
According to Arbitron, “El Vacilon de la Manana” with Luis Jimenez and Moonshadow has been the number one-rated morning show with Hispanics, and the most-listened-to Spanish-language morning show in the New York area; “El Cucuy de la Manana” is a seven-hour program that is ranked number one among Hispanics in Los Angeles; “El Vacilon de la Manana” with Enrique Santos and Joe Ferrero is the number one Spanish-language morning show in Miami.
