ABC to Stay With NAB

ABC to Stay With NAB

Disney/ABC says it intends to remain an NAB member “and work from within the organization with the twin goals of restoring broadcast-industry unity and embracing consistent and principled deregulation of broadcast ownership rules.”
Word from ABC came after CBS Television and its radio partner, Infinity Broadcasting, pulled more than 180 radio and 35 TV stations out of NAB membership in a dispute over broadcast ownership regulation.
What sparked the sudden resignation is the same issue that drove the Fox and NBC networks out of NAB membership over two years ago, NAB’s commitment to the FCC’s 35% national ownership cap for TV stations. CBS wants that limit raised and the NAB TV board has voted to reaffirm the cap where it stands.
