Abernathy Going to Seattle

FCC Commissioner Kathleen Abernathy plans to join attendees for the 2002 NAB Radio Show Policymaker’s Breakfast, Sept. 13 in Seattle. Abernathy will share her thoughts on the latest issues facing the radio industry. Steve Newberry, NAB Radio Board vice chairman and president/CEO of Commonwealth Broadcasting Corp. will emcee the annual event that will include a Q&A with the commissioner. The breakfast is open first-come, first-serve to all full-conference attendees.
Abernathy was appointed to the FCC in May 2001. Prior to her FCC appointment, Abernathy was vice president of Public Policy at BroadBand Office Communications, Inc. Abernathy has also held positions at U.S. West, Inc. and AirTouch Communications, Inc. In addition, Abernathy held several positions at the FCC, including telecom legal advisor to Chairman James Quello and legal advisor to Commissioner Sherrie Marshall.
