About 8% BMW Series 6, 7 Buyers Choose HD-R Option

Two tidbits out of an Interep HD Radio panel with the Advertising Club of New York:
BMW Product Planner Jacob Harb said about 8% of purchasers take the HD Radio option in the BMW Series 6 and 7 models, a percentage that he calls quite good for a new technology, according to Interep.
However panel participants said that figure also highlights that the public at large is unaware of HD Radio and the industry needs to promote the technology.
“I have never seen such a coordinated effort among radio broadcasters to build awareness and design a plan that will build radio audiences … (broadcasters) know that there will only be one chance for a rollout, and they want to get it right. I expect some announcements about their plan will be coming soon,” stated Ibiquity President/CEO Robert Struble.
Panelists included Mitch Dolan/ president of ABC Radio Station Group; Jacob Harb/ product planner, BMW; Scott Herman/ executive vice president, Eastern Region, Infinity Broadcasting; Dan Hodgson/ senior vice president Marketing, Polk Audio; and Robert Struble.
