Absolute Offers Football App

Mobile, podcasts compliment on-air strategy for coverage of FIFA World Cup

With England set to play its first match in the 2010 FIFA World Cup on 12 June, Absolute Radio has reunited David Baddiel and Frank Skinner to cover the international football tourney live from South Africa.

In addition to weekly hour-long specials and call-ins during the Christian O’Connell breakfast show, Baddiel and Skinner will track England’s run through the World Cup through a series of podcasts beginning on 24 May. The duo was nominated for a Sony Radio Academy Award in 2006 for their podcasts from that year’s World Cup in Germany.

England supporters can also download the Baddiel & Skinner’s Football Kit app, which as billed as “all the kit you’ll need to enjoy the football with your mates this summer.” The app includes a pub locator, score predictor game, a podcast player and a “Pub Fun” area. The App is available for iPhone and Android-based phones.

Finally, Absolute Radio is giving listeners the chance to win £4,000 through the Baddiel & Skinner’s Fantasy Cup game. The fantasy football manager game is accessible through the Absolute Radio website, or though the Baddiel & Skinner’s Fantasy Cup iPhone app.
