ABU Symposium Focuses on Digital

‘Leveraging the Digital Advantage’ set for 9–11 March in Kuala Lumpur.

As broadcasters around the world look to leverage the advantages of digitization in the operations, the need for education about the capabilities and possibilities of digital broadcasting remains great.

The Asia-Pacific Broadcasters Union (ABU) is hosting its annual Digital Broadcasting Symposium with theme “Leveraging the Digital Advantage,” 9–11 March at the Hotel Istana in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

The symposium will address a full range of issues related to digital broadcasting, including transmission, production, competition and new opportunities.

While the symposium has a strong element technology and its usage, two sessions are devoted to programming issues — content creation for digital radio and content creation for HDTV.

Technology workshops will run in parallel with the symposium, providing focused presentations of emerging technologies for broadcasting services.

Eminent speakers from all parts of the world are slated to come to Kuala Lumpur to share their experiences and expertise with the participants of the symposium. In all, the event consists of a three-day conference, ten focused workshops and a 25 booth equipment exhibition. It is expected that some major manufacturers will also launch products for the Asia-Pacific region at this event.

In addition, an Industry Debate will track the implementation of digital services in the Asia-Pacific region.

Sponsors, exhibitors, supporters and media partners for this event include Broadcast Australia, Sony, Globecast Asia, Plisch, Conax, Dalet Digital Media Systems, Rohde & Schwarz, Radio Frequency Systems, LS telcom, OmniBus, Kathrein, Gencom Technology, Benchmark Broadcast Systems, Nautel, T-VIPS, RFmondial, Nippon Hoso Kyokai and Digital Radio Mondiale.
