AES Opens Friday; Radio Sessions Include Armstrong Event

The AES show opens Friday in New York. On tap of particular interest to radio folks is a Digital Radio Broadcast Forum, a session covering Surround Sound for Digital Radio; a look at Designing a Broadcast Facility for 5.1; an audio drama products by Himan Brown; a tour of Sirius Satellite Radio; and “70th Anniversary of FM Broadcasting: A look at Major Armstrong’s Contribution to Broadcasting.”
The latter presentation, coordinated in part by Radio World and moderated by Scott Fybush of RW and Northeast Radio Watch, will include a visual tour of Armstrong’s historic laboratory and tower site and a display of some of the Major’s artifacts, such as the original Empire State modulator breadboard, some original 42 to 50 MHz FM receivers, and the original Alpine logbooks from the world’s first FM radio station, W2XMN.
The list of broadcast events is here.
