Alaska Deal: KTOO Buys KSRJ, KFMG From White Oak

Alaska Deal: KTOO Buys KSRJ, KFMG From White Oak

The community-licensed public TV and radio organization in Juneau, Alaska, KTOO, will launch two public radio channels this fall.
The noncom owner/operator of public station KTOO(FM) signed an Asset Purchase Agreement with White Oak Broadcasting for KSRJ(FM) and KFMG(FM). The purchase price was not disclosed.
Pending FCC approval, parties expect the deal to close by mid-October.
While the new stations’ formats have yet to be defined, the move is a response to listener demand for more public radio programming, states KTOO(FM) President/GM Bill Legere. The three stations will operate out of KTOO’s existing studios with minimal additional staff.
Public Radio Capital, which helps pubcasters find new noncom channels, represented KTOO in the acquisition process.
