Alleged Pirates Fined $25,000

Both involve south Florida frequencies

The FCC fined two people for unauthorized operations of a radio station.

The agency reaffirmed an earlier proposed fine for John E. Criteser, Jr. $15,000 for operating an unlicensed transmitter on 95.1 MHz in Lake Park, Fla. The agency said in its decision that Criteser did not respond to an October notification.

In the second case, the commission reaffirmed an earlier $10,000 fine against Neil Davis for operating an unlicensed transmitter on 96.1 MHz in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Davis too, did not respond to the initial Notice of Apparent Liability and that’s why the FCC escalated the penalty to a forfeiture.

Both men have 30 days to pay or their cases may be turned over to the Justice Department for collection.
