The HD Digital Radio Alliance said the next 17 markets to air HD2 programming formats will go live by Jan. 31.

The HD Digital Radio Alliance said the next 17 markets to air HD2 programming formats will go live by Jan. 31.

More than 600 new stations are on the air with HD2 programming, according to Peter Ferrara, president and CEO.

This brings the number of markets with HD2 programming to 85 and marks the fourth wave in a 12-month-old rollout. All of the 85 markets are in the top 100; all HD2 multicasts continue to be commercial-free, said the alliance, which is made up of several radio groups.

New formats in this round include Jazz & Blues, Standards and Slow Jams and Dance. Many of these formats will be heard for the first time in this rollout, the alliance said.

Individual radio companies will announce which stations in these markets have selected which formats. The next 17 markets to roll out HD2 programming are here
