The HD Digital Radio Alliance announced the third wave of stations that will be launching side channels under the Alliance format-selection program, taking place in 18 new markets.
The roll out will consist of 140 new side channels, bringing the total number of supplemental channels to more than 600 in 68 of the top 100 markets. HD2 stations are initially being offered commercial free.
“It’s only been eight months since the Alliance was formed and we are seeing HD digital radio broadcasts being launched at a much faster pace than expected,” states Peter Ferrara, president and CEO of the HD Digital Radio Alliance.
