Consumer electronics maker Alpine Electronics will offer aftermarket products compatible with Apple CarPlay this fall in the U.S. and Europe.
Model numbers and pricing will be announced when the products launch.
“For more than a decade, we have worked with Apple to produce products that integrate their technology into our car entertainment and information products,” says Alpine’s Senior Director and CTO Hirofumi Morioka. “Our new CarPlay-enabled products represent the next step in providing users a seamless iPhone experience in the vehicle.”
Using a connector in the vehicle, CarPlay works with iPhone 5s, iPhone 5c and iPhone 5 running the latest version of iOS 7.
The Alpine audio/video system will incorporate CarPlay so users can control it from Alpine’s large, in-dash touchscreen, or activate the Siri voice interface to control CarPlay via voice commands. CarPlay enables drivers to make calls, use maps, access music or receive and send messages.
