American Cancer Society to Honor Spanish Broadcast Head

Raúl Alarcón named 2012 Gala Honoree

Spanish Broadcasting System (SBS) President and CEO Raúl Alarcón Jr. has been named the American Cancer Society’s Florida chapter 2012 Gala Honoree, the company announced.

He will be recognized for his lasting and continuous support of the society’s efforts. The annual gala is scheduled to take place April, 21 at the InterContinental Miami hotel.

“To be recognized by the American Cancer Society is an honor which I would like to share with the millions of Hispanic entrepreneurs in America who are transforming our economy,” said Mr. Alarcón in a press release.

Alarcón joined SBS in 1983 as an account executive, becoming president and director in 1985 and chief executive officer in 1994. Spanish Broadcasting Systems, Inc. owns and operates 21 Spanish-language radio stations in Latin markets throughout the U.S.

The American Cancer Society is dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health concern through research, education, advocacy and service.
