WBAI(FM) in New York City is doing its part to revive radio drama. A six-part series, “The Aliens,” is scheduled to start on March 27 and air the following five Saturdays at noon.
“The Aliens,” despite a seeming link to the most famous radio drama, Orson Welles’ “War of the Worlds,” is a transnational story about identities, nationalism and relations. It is a collaborative work from writers scattered across the globe.
Making use of mobile media, “The Aliens” will have a character “tweet” during performances. The show will also be streamed onto the Web and made available for podcast download.
A Web site is devoted to the production.
