First it was FM, now it’s AM, an auction for new frequencies, that is. In January, the FCC opened up a window for applicants to submit proposals for new AM stations. Now, the agency has released a list of 75 so-called “singleton” applications for frequencies the commission says are so far uncontested for the AM Auction 84. The frequencies range from 580 kHz to 1540 kHz.
Applicants must complete and submit FCC Form 301 construction permit applications for the proposed new stations. The forms must be filed between Aug. 30 to Oct. 29. Petitions to deny any of the applications must also be submitted during that period.
