APRE Announces Scholarships to Attend 2017 PREC

Annual conference meets in Vegas prior to NAB Show

The Association of Public Radio Engineers Board of Directors says it is now accepting applications for scholarships to attend 2017 Public Radio Engineering Conference. The annual event will be held at the Tuscany Suites, Las Vegas on April 20–21, right before the NAB Show.

Scholarship recipients will be given free APRE membership for one year, the PREC registration fee, as well as three nights at the conference hotel.

“Twelve years ago I was a brand new radio station engineer and a recipient of the APRE scholarship,” APRE Board of Directors President Dan Houg said in the announcement. “I can attest to the impact attending the Public Radio Engineering Conference has on my ability to build and move our station forward. It opens contacts within the industry and provides connections with peers that persist as I go about my daily work.”

According to the release, qualified applicants must be a public radio employee with less than two years’ experience at their current station; or have not attended the conference in the last five years; or be another industry representative as chosen by the board.

More specifics on the application process can be found here, although the essay and recommendation letter must be emailed to [email protected].
