APTX Adds OEMs

Codec algorithm developer signs codec manufacturers for Enhanced apt-X

APTX, the developer of the apt-X codec, has announced that several major codec manufacturers have licensed APTX’s Enhanced apt-X algorithm.

These licensees include Harris, Mayah Communications, APT/WorldCast, BW Broadcast and MDOUK. Several of these manufacturers are using the Enhanced apt-X for audio-over-IP applications. (APTX is not to be confused with the APT codec manufacturing division with which it had been associated. That business was acquired recently by the Audemat Group, now WorldCast Systems.)

Jonny McClintock, sales president for APTX, said: “Enhanced apt-X clearly continues to be the workhorse, everyday codec for broadcasters who take for granted high-reliability, high-quality, multiple channel audio contribution over IP. OEM solutions featuring Enhanced apt-X are clearly seen as future-proofed investments by cost-conscious broadcasters around the world.”
