APTX, Digigram Sign Deal

French codec maker to License APTX technology

France-based codec maker Digigram has licensed the Enhanced apt-X codec from Northern Ireland-based developer APTX.

The Enhanced apt-X technology will be used in Digigram’s IQOYA line of IP codecs and integrated into the company’s Visiblu networking system for Windows and Linux platforms.

Head of Product Marketing for Digigram, Pascal Malgouyard said, “Enhanced apt-X will be particularly suitable for customers looking for excellent audio quality while preserving low delay figures when bandwidth is available.” APTX Commercial Director Jonny McClintock joined Malgouyard in making the announcement.

APTX promotes Enhanced apt-X for its latency of slightly over 1 millisecond and its acoustic response; it says Digigram products thus can help broadcasters who are migrating studio links and STLs from traditional synchronous E1, X.21 and ISDN circuits to IP packetized networks.
