Atlanta AM Music Station Plans HD Radio

WMLB(AM) in Atlanta has ordered HD Radio equipment from Harris Corp. for its conversion to
digital radio. The supplier said WMLB will become the first AM music station in the city to broadcast digitally.
John Lauer is vice president and general manager of WMLB.
The station bought a transmitter, exciter, four-tower phasor, pre-wired HD Radio rack and Orban analog and digital audio processing equipment from Harris. The station also plans to move its transmitter site and increasing power from 10 to 50 kW. It airs at 1160 kHz and is owned by Atlanta Area Broadcasting.
