If you think your name or someone that you know should be mentioned in the same group as Steve Church, Jack Sellmeyer, Louis King, Arno Meyer or Mike Dorrough, to name a few, then pay attention because it is time for 2011 NAB Engineering Achievement Awards nominations. Traditionally one is picked for radio and one for television.
That group mentioned represents some pretty fast company, but then there are a lot of great engineers out there, many unrecognized. The NAB helpfully lists some criteria for the award: invention, development of new techniques, dissemination of technical knowledge and literature or an outstanding contribution.
The NAB encourages nominations from all levels, saying, “The size of the organization with which each candidate is affiliated is not a determining factor. The merits of the contributions to broadcast engineering are the sole factors that will be taken into account.”
The deadline for the nomination is January 21, 2011. They are presented at the spring show in Las Vegas; this year April, 9 – 14, 2011.
