AudioScience, which makes digital audio peripherals, said it has adopted the Cirrus Logic CS181 family of CobraNet-enabled ICs for network-based radio broadcast products.
VP Stephen Turner said, “The broadcast industry is beginning to see that audio over Ethernet is a logical step from the analog or AES/EBU wiring schemes currently employed by radio stations, and we intend to promote that industry shift, using CobraNet-based products.”
He said the company had done “extensive research” into the network protocols available for transporting digital audio. The technology from Cirrus is for distributing uncompressed, real-time, digital audio over a Fast Ethernet network.
