Sound card and audio network equipment maker AudioScience has joined the AVnu Alliance as a Promoter member.
AudioScience is known in the radio industry for its soundcards but it also has a growing product line in audio networking for installations.
The AVnu Alliance was designed to set and promote the IEEE 802.1 Audio Video Bridging standards. According to a release these standards can be used by the professional audio/video, automotive and consumer electronics businesses. The standards cover audio, video, control and data traffic across select network layers.
AudioScience Vice President Stephen Turner explained: “We decided as a company to focus on audio-over-networks many years ago … When AVB came on the scene, we watched with interest, noting that it was being developed under the auspices of the IEEE and that it had prominent installed sound and network silicon companies behind it.”
