American Women in Radio and Television named Lucinda Hutter Cavell its Outstanding Female Engineer of the Year, in partnership with the SBE.

American Women in Radio and Television named Lucinda Hutter Cavell its Outstanding Female Engineer of the Year, in partnership with the SBE.

She will receive the award at the AWRT Annual Leadership Summit and Business Conference on March 10.

Cavell has a 28-year career in broadcast engineering that includes working three Olympics as well as presidential travels. AWRT says she is adamant about mutual support for women in the broadcasting technical field and believes there is a lack of effective mentoring.

She is educated in journalism and electronics. While much of her résumé is in other media, radio plays a role; she began in broadcast at her high school radio station in Illinois, worked at University of Kansas station KANU(FM) and was station manager of student-run KJHK(FM).
