XM’s latest promotional brainstorm is to give a free satellite radio to every fan at the first game of the World Series this weekend, which works out to about 40,000 receivers.
Fans will get a coupon good for a Delphi XM RoadyXT satellite radio, which has a retail value of about $80. The promotion will be held at U.S. Cellular Field in Chicago; if the series goes to a fifth game, it will be repeated in Houston.
The company called this the largest giveaway in the 102-year history of the World Series; it promotes XM’s relationship with Major League Baseball, which began this year.
