Barix Participates at Commonwealth Games

1,000+ boxes are used

Audio over IP equipment maker Barix said it provided approximately 1,000 audio over IP encoders and decoders for the broadcast facilities of the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi, India, this month.

Barix boxes handled acquisition, contribution, distribution and monitoring duties. The workhorse of the network was the Exstreamer 1000 encoder/decoder.

Telecom company Mahanahar Telephone Nigam Limited installed and operated the network for India’s Prasat Bharathi, India’s largest public broadcaster and the central broadcast conduit for the games.

Barix AG CEO Johannes G. Rietschel said the products “delivered ‘incident-free’ performance for the 12-day event at an affordable cost, working in a fully-redundant link model in cooperation with the region’s leading broadcast, production, telecom and integration companies.”
