Swiss company Barix is providing the technology behind hotel and chain-store radio solutions from DMD².
Two DMD² products — hotelradio.fm and retailradio.fm — enable the simultaneous broadcasting of customized music, commercials and announcements to any number of chain stores or hotel areas.
In Switzerland, 120 stores in the Ex Libris bookstore chain and hotels such as the Lenkerhof alpine resort in Lenk im Simmental and the Hotel Giardino in Ascona already use DMD² solutions.
The streaming is based on audio-over-IP technology. A Barix Exstreamer unit receives the audio stream transmitted by DMD² via the Internet, converts it into audio and feeds the reconstructed signal into the local audio system.
