Barrett Joins International Datacasting

Systems architect with telecom patents will serve as VP of R&D

Chris Barrett, formerly the vice president of engineering for the Ottawa-based Stratford Managers, has joined digital content distribution equipment maker provider International Datacasting as its vice president of research and development.

Barrett said he was particularly excited by recent testing of IDC’s LASER targeted ad insertion platform with an international broadcaster and trials of the company’s Digital Tattoo direct-to-home-over-IP gateway.

According to the announcement, with Barrett, the company has added a leader with experience in engineering management, research and development and operations. He has seven awarded or pending patents for data networking technology.

Barrett has also served as vice president of engineering at Pleora Technologies, where he focused on research and development and operations. At Gridpoint Systems, he led an engineering team to take a new product from conception to trial-readiness, and he has also held engineering management roles at Nortel, Alcatel and CIENA.
