Bayliss Foundation Institutes Broadcast Equipment Auction

Internet-only bidding to raise funds for scholarships

In its search for funds to nourish its scholarships, the John R. Bayliss Foundation is launching a series of Internet auctions of donated equipment and broadcast memorabilia.

Run by Rasmus Auctioneers, it is scheduled to run into mid-July.

Donations for future auctions are welcomed by the foundation.

The John R. Bayliss Foundation was founded in the name of John R. Bayliss, former president of Gannett Broadcasting’s radio division and Charter Broadcasting’s communications division and the owner of Bayliss Broadcasting. Last year the foundation provided approximately $60,000 in scholarship money to a dozen students at schools ranging from the University of Georgia to Emerson College to Syracuse University.

The foundation also has internship program that places qualified students with sponsoring broadcast organizations such as Arbitron, Bonneville International, Clear Channel Radio, Univision Radio and Regent Communications.
