BBC Orders Next-Gen Production and Playout System

Scisys will provide replacements for dira! systems in Scotland

The BBC has ordered a replacement for the dira! radio production and playout system used on all radio channels at BBC Scotland. The system, which was provided by Scisys PLC’s media and broadcast division, is covered under a framework agreement with the BBC.

According to the company, the existing dira! systems will be replaced by the dira! Next Generation Windows-based systems in Glasgow Pacific Quay, Edinburgh, as well as later in nine regional sites. As part of the agreement, the BBC will be provided with an additional system to be used for training and validation.

“This is a key contract win for Scisys, further underlining the strength of relationship established between Scisys and the BBC,” said Scisys CEO David Jones.

The project is worth about £1 million (U.S. $1,528,500) and is expected to be completed in 2015.
