International news organization BBC World Service has selected WorldCast Systems’ Ecreso FM transmitters and associated services as part of its FM transmitter replacement program.
According to WorldCast, the deal comprises the supply of racks equipped with Ecreso FM transmitters in a 1+1 redundant configuration and an Ecreso Control Unit. The transmitters feature five-band audio processing hosted in the direct-to-channel digital modulator, dynamic RDS encoding, and MPX over AES compatibility.
The agreement also includes WorldCast Systems associated services, which encompasses system integration, transmitter configuration, testing, delivery, and transmitter operations training.
“We are pleased to partner with Worldcast as part of our FM transmitter replacement program,” said Simon Gosby from BBC World Service Distribution. “We look forward to continuing to provide a reliable service for our global audience.”
WorldCast has thus far shipped six 1,000 W and two 2,000 W 1+1 systems to the BBC in the United Kingdom before final delivery to broadcast sites in Africa and Asia. The company will provide a total of 16 transmitters to the broadcaster as per the accord.
