BE Gear Outfits New Kenya Stations

Broadcast Electronics has inked a deal with private Kenya operators Nation Media Group, Citizen Radio and Television and KISS(FM) to supply RF transmitters and studio equipment to the first FM stations licensed in the East Africa Republic of Kenya since its new president began expanding broadcasting.
BE will outfit at least 20 new FM stations, to be built over the next 18 months, starting this summer. The FM stations are among the first to go up since President Emilio Mwai Kibaki took over in 2002 and allocated new frequencies for broadcasting.
Citizen Radio and Television is owned by Royal Media Services. The company plans to get 12 solid-state FM-1C1 and GM-3C transmitters from BE.
