Broadcast Electronics is releasing a software version for its IDi 20 importer unit that it says puts broadcasters in the driver’s seat for multicasting.
Version 2.0 adds bit rate “tachometers” to the unit’s dashboard-like GUI, as well as on-console audio level controls and ease-of-use features for managing multiple program channels from one seat.
Additionally, BE says Dashboard 2.0 offers performance improvements including an expanded audio buffer to give its HD Radio importer greater flexibility and reliability in the delivery of multiple HD Radio channels.
Broadcasters also can re-allocate bit rates on the fly; for example, not having to reboot importer/exporter pairs when changing audio bit rates.
Dashboard 2.0 coincides with Ibiquity’s most recent HD Radio software release, and will be provided as a free upgrade to BE IDi 20 customers.
