Broadcast Electronics has broken ground on an addition to its Quincy, Ill., plant that it says will increase manufacturing capacity almost 30 percent.
The company cites need for space due to BE’s growing product line and market share. The company declined to give a cost estimate for the expansion, but said the 20,000-square-foot addition could be completed by December.
The existing plant in Quincy is 70,000 square feet. The company moved to the town in 1977 and produced the first products from that plant, a high-powered FM transmitter and an exciter, in 1979.
