Bennett Named CBS Radio’s VP/GM of Traffic Ops and Partnerships

He fills a newly created position

CBS Radio has chosen Fred Bennett to become its new vice president and general manager of traffic operations and partnerships. He will be based in New York and will report to CBS Radio Chief Operating Officer Scott Herman.

According to the announcement, Bennett “is charged with building an in-house traffic content and sales operation to serve CBS Radio’s 117 radio stations operating in 26 U.S. markets and corresponding websites.” Additionally, he will help form a content-specific group of reporters and editors that will create local traffic reports, which can then be sold as sponsorships by the dedicated sales team.

And in another capacity, he will moderate the company’s relationship with new traffic content partner Media, which is effective April 1, 2017.

Most recently, Bennett served as the president and chief revenue officer of WKXW(FM) in New Jersey. Prior to that, he was the chief business development officer for programmatic content provider Jelli Inc. Bennett previously worked at Westwood One in a number of roles, including president of Metro Television; EVP, of affiliate sales and business operations of Metro Traffic; and SVP of advertising sales of Metro Traffic. Earlier in his career, Bennett held various senior level sales and operations positions with WABC, Pamal Broadcasting and Shadow Traffic. He is currently a board member of the International Radio & Television Society.
