Berman Presses For CC Probe

Rep. Howard Berman, D-Calif., Ranking Member, Subcommittee on Courts, the Internet and Intellectual Property, wants the Justice Department and the FCC to investigate Clear Channel for possible antitrust violations in its concert promotions division, allegedly denying air play to artists who don’t use CC convert venues.
Berman has also asked the agencies to investigate allegations that Clear Channel is allegedly warehousing radio stations by using third party shell corporations to make purchases where Clear Channel would exceed local ownership limits. Berman is reportedly trying to persuade House leadership to schedule a hearing.
Clear Channel says it competes within the law.
