Bill Shute Dies

Was founder of Broadcasters General Store

According to press reports from Florida, William. G. Shute passed away on Dec. 28, 2012.

Bill Shute was the founder of the well-known supply house, Broadcasters General Store and many of his descendants are closely involved long after his retirement.

Shute was born in on April Fool’s Day, 1932 in Wheaton, Ill. He was a high school athlete and “Tri State Speed Skating Champion” in 1949. He started BGS in 1979 in Ocala, Fla.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Jo. Many of his children and grandchildren work at or have worked at BGS over the years.

There will be a service on Jan. 6, at 2 p.m. at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services in Ocala. Here is a memorial page for Bill.
