A Christian broadcaster in North Carolina is using a digital multicast channel to program to listeners in the 18–34 bracket.

Blue Ridge Broadcasting launched “The Edge,” which airs on 106.9 HD2 in the Asheville/Hickory, N.C. area and online. It’s a multicast of WMIT(FM). The company was founded in 1962 by Billy and Ruth Graham.

“The Edge broadcasts the best in Christian Hit Music by such groups as Switchfoot, Reliant K, toby mac, Barlow Girl, Skillet and many more,” it announced.

“Our hope and prayer is that The Edge will be an encouragement to ‘Generation Y,’” General Manager Jim Kirkland said in the announcement, calling it “a group that has been underserved by a radio ministry in our area for some time.”
