Bonneville Puts Unsigned Bands on HD2

Unsigned bands and artists have a new digital radio outlet in Washington, D.C.

Bonneville Broadcasting is expanding iChannel, an outlet that features unsigned bands and artists from the Web to HD Radio multicast channels. In the Washington area, WTOP-FM has launched iChannel as its multicast channel, HD 103.5-2. Bonneville expects to bring iChannel to other markets in coming months.

“The station allows for artists and bands from around the globe to have their music heard, and for listeners to hear great music from all genres from talented acts that have just not yet hit the big time,” stated Bonneville DC Vice President Joel Oxley.

Artists can submit their music for consideration — Bonneville is looking radio-friendly music, not avant-garde or experimental tracks — and then track their play on the Web and on the air.
