Brazilian Radio Begins HD Radio Broadcasts

IBOC proponents believe Brazil’s choice to start using HD Radio on some stations will influence other Latin American countries to use the technology.
Both Harris and Broadcast Electronics now have customers in Brazil using their HD Radio gear.
Harris said three Brazilian radio broadcasters are using its transmitters and combining methods. Radio Bandeirantes, Radio Globo and RBS Group are using Harris gear for six stations total while KISS(FM) in São Paulo is using BE gear.
Radio Bandeirantes is using Harris’ split-level combining method while Radio Globo and RBS Group are employing separate amplification.
BE said in late September that KISS FM in São Paulo was the first station to turn on HD Radio in the country and was using its equipment.
