Broadcast Conference Coming Up in Ohio

Here’s a new regional engineering event to put on your calendar. The First Annual Ohio Broadcast Engineering Conference is planned for Friday, Nov. 7, in Columbus, Ohio, according to SBE Chapter 70 Chairman Blake Thompson. Radio and TV people are welcome. The sponsors are the Ohio Association of Broadcasters, SBE Chapter 70 and the Ohio Chapter of Society of Motion Picture & Television Engineers.
It takes place at the Sheraton Suites Hotel in Worthington on the north side of Columbus. Presentations include a morning session by Terry Baun of Criterion Broadcast Services on Chief Operator Regulations and FCC rules. Disaster preparation then will be discussed by John Owen of WBNS(TV), chairman of the Ohio SMPTE. Mark Kreiger, Chapter 70’s frequency coordinator, will discuss alternative power; and Frank Foti of Omnia Audio will present an HD Radio checklist session.
The fee for members of the sponsoring organizations is $30, and $50 for non-members, including continental breakfast and lunch. Registration information is available at www3.uakron.edu/wzip/engineering/oheng.pdf and will appear shortly on the Chapter 70 Web site.
