The New Ryan Seacrest Studios at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center
Harris Broadcast says it will continue to work with the Ryan Seacrest Foundation, a nonprofit organization that aims to inspire youth through entertainment and education focused initiatives, and Clear Channel Media & Entertainment to bring live broadcast entertainment to patients and visitors at the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center as well in other cities.
According to a release, the broadcast media center in Cincinnati, named Seacrest Studios, went live Nov. 18 and aims to help heal children and their families through the exploration of creative realms in radio, television and new media. “It was our goal to help build a unique broadcast media center that was memorable while providing an easy learning curve for patients, hospital staff and local radio stations coming on-site to produce special broadcasts,” said Harris Broadcast CEO Charlie Vogt.
Ryan Seacrest Foundation engineer Brian Clark collaborated with Harris Broadcast and other vendors on overall systems design and integration, producing a professional studio environment that supports live radio and TV broadcasts aired in patient rooms throughout the hospital via a closed-circuit network. As part of the project, Harris Broadcast supplied a digital studio systems solution including an on-air console, wiring and production accessories, while working with Clark and Cincinnati Children’s Hospital engineer Michael Rose to create a studio environment with a custom-built, one-host, five-guest studio desk. Patients also contribute to the on-air and production process with Clear Channel programming staff donating time to train patients and hospital staff.
“As a radio broadcaster we can give back in ways other businesses can’t and Clear Channel supports the amazing work of the Ryan Seacrest Foundation in a variety of ways throughout the year including providing national engineering and programming support,” said Jeff Littlejohn, executive vice president, engineering and systems integration, CCM&E. “Our teams are eager to work on site — teaching the children and staff how to operate equipment, create content, program the station and otherwise entertain fellow patients.”
Seacrest Studios provides programming to all patients whether they’re in the studio, or listening and watching through a closed-circuit TV network. This includes live radio shows, celebrity appearances, live musical performances, games, storytelling, educational segments, sports and community interaction. Patients are able to contribute to the on-air and production process, operating the Harris Broadcast Flexiva NetWave on-air console and World Feed Panel to support live in-studio performances from musical artists and entertainers.
Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center marks the sixth pediatric hospital location for the Ryan Seacrest Foundation.
