Broadcast Museum Gets New Home

Broadcast Museum Gets New Home

The new home of the Museum of Broadcast Communications in Chicago is expected to open in 2004. The museum has purchased a four-story parking structure at State and Kinzie Street. Cost: $4.64 million.
The organization now leases space at the Chicago Cultural Center. Founder/CEO Bruce DuMont said the museum has raised $2.5 million toward its $12 million capital goal.
“The remodeled 50,000-square-foot site will include added space for exhibits and archives, radio and television studios, a special event venue, a public screening area, a cafe and gift shop, as well as indoor parking for museum visitors,” MBC stated. DuMont also called on the state governor to release money earmarked for the project but frozen in a building fund.
