With Giving Tuesday taking place tomorrow, the Broadcasters Foundation of America is seeking donations to support colleagues in need. BFOA is a 501(c)3 charity that provides aid to radio and television professionals who find themselves in acute financial need due to debilitating illness or disaster.
“Requests for aid continue to come in every week, and we have to keep up with the demand,” said Tim McCarthy, president of the Broadcasters Foundation, in a press release. “We cannot turn our backs on our colleagues who have worked at their local station and are now in desperate need of our help. We ask everyone in radio and television to come together to help our colleagues.”
Scott Herman, chairman of the Broadcasters Foundation, said: “Giving Tuesday is the perfect day to make a donation that will help our colleagues whose lives have been upended by tragic circumstances. With the support and generosity of everyone in our industry, we can continue our charitable mission.”
According to its website, BFOA reaches out to broadcasters across the country to identify and provide an anonymous safety net in cases of critical illness, accident and other serious misfortune.
Giving Tuesday donations can be made here.
