“Broadcaster interests” met with the FCC this week to press the commission on the topic of satellite localism, according to SkyReport.
Executives Cox Radio, Wagonwheel Communications and Eure Communications “asked commission officials to evaluate the economic impact of locally differentiated content available via satellite radio on traditional broadcasting,” it reported. The group met with FCC Commissioner Jonathan Adelstein and his staff.
They argued that the FCC did not evaluate the local content issue when it authorized satellite radio service, which they said was meant only to be a national-only service.
