Broadcasting in Focus for 122nd AES

Broadcasting will play a central role in the conference program at the 122nd AES Convention, which will be held 5--8 May 2007 at the Austria Center Vienna in Vienna, Austria.

Broadcasting will play a central role in the conference program at the 122nd AES Convention, which will be held 5–8 May 2007 at the Austria Center Vienna in Vienna, Austria.

The broadcasting track starts on the first day of the convention with workshops on “Surround for Broadcasting” and “Loudness Metering Systems.” Radio-related paper sessions will follow the workshops.

Tutorials being offered throughout the convention include “Sync and Time Code,” “Quality Management,” “IP Audio Over WAN Networks,” “Low Bitrate Distribution Systems,” “MXF Media Exchange Format,” “Broadcast Case Studies” and “Champagne Taste — Beer Money.” Workshops covering “Process Model Broadcast,” “Radio Music Recording” and “Mass Storage Carrier” will also be offered, as well as an application seminar on audio restoration.

On Saturday, 5 May, AES attendees will have the chance to take a technical tour of the radio and television facilities of Austrian public-service broadcaster Österreichische Rundfunk (ORF).
