Brownback Favors Quick Ownership Closure

Sen. Sam Brownback, R-Kan., is urging the FCC to bring the media ownership proceeding to a close quickly. In particular, he stated in a letter to Chairman Michael Powell, he’s “troubled” by the length of time the cable/broadcast cross-ownership rule and the national TV ownership rule have been open (since 1998). Powell has said he hopes to have the ownership review completed and new rules out in late spring.
