The Buffalo Sabres hockey team partnered with Entercom Buffalo for a Thanksgiving turkey drive on Thursday to benefit local food pantries. Entercom Buffalo and WGR(AM) are the radio broadcast partners for the Buffalo Sabres.
For every turkey dropped off for the event at the Entercom Buffalo offices, the Sabres gave away two tickets to an upcoming game to the donor.
Entercom Buffalo Operations Manager Tim Wenger says 1,700 turkeys were dropped off and the Sabres gave away 4,000 tickets. The distributed tickets were for games against the Montreal Canadiens (11/27); New York Rangers (12/5); Ottawa Senators (12/10) and Winnipeg Jets (12/17).
He said, “The Buffalo Sabres stepped up in a big way to help the community by donating the tickets to this cause and Entercom is honored to join the effort.”
All proceeds from the event will benefit the Buffalo City Mission and the Food Bank of Western New York.
